Harmony® Control App Reviews

Good

Just bought a Harmony Elite and love it. No issues so far, except Logitech should add Apple Watch support.

Reliable and useful but crappy interface

Guys - you really need to develop this in Devops mode. This needs a lot of feature to be useful: 1. Ability to have bigger buttons and different Colours. The remote currently is not very useful for seniors, kids. 2. Need more flexibility in layouts - currently you cannot delete number buttons and the directions arrows are fixed 3. Ability to edit / delete / re arrange buttons of devices. Most devices have many controls but users should be able to re-arrange and delete the Ines they dont use. 4. Labels for buttons is a very basic feature missing

Stop with the tips

Quit showing me the tip to use volume controls... your app is terrible but necessary

Newly disAPPointed

I loved my harmony remote and the functionality of the app for years. What was not to like? But through various updates, purchasing a new television, I have lost button functionality, and many features that made it such a great app originally. The control "wheel" on one of the screens ceases to work now. And sometimes when using the app on my iPhone it does not allow me to enter more than two digits. These are just a couple of the problems. I should note that when using the control there is not an issue. Its at this point that I really have to take logitech to task. When looking for app support, it is simply circular and a dog chasing its tail has more success. I hope future updates restore functions that have been lost Long ago, I miss loving this.

Garbage

Loses connection constantly. Would not recommend relying on the app as a remote control. You still need to have a real Harmony Remote.

More problems with IOS 3

Cant connect lately. Goes through a period where it works flawlessly for months, and then a period where it doesnt work at all. Frustrating!

Garbage

Absolutely doesnt work. It cant find wifi. Biggest waste of money. Do not purchase this product.

Annoying sounds and vibrations, bad navigation

The Help function includes a voice-over instruction which cannot be turned off. The app randomly vibrates at some point during starting an activity, and this cannot be turned off. The app routinely requires you to press a "forward" (right) arrow to save and go back to a previous panel. Thoughtless design throughout.

Just terrible

Such a promising concept but Logitech completely dropped the ball on software. This app hangs frequently and only manages to connect about half the time when first started. Id use my laptop or browser to control things.. except they didnt bother to do anything besides this app. Far less trouble to just use the multiple remotes even if i had to dig them out of the couch every single time.

3D Touch support.

3D Touch has been around for quite sometime... How come one of the nerdiest apps doesnt support 3D Touch?

Not too bad

Its okay

The left volume down button turns the volume UP

The left hand side volume-down or - button is turning the volume up before it allows you to turn it down. It nearly blew my speakers.

Happy camper, two years in the making.

Original review: August 2014 - iOS 8 report: It didnt even give me a chance. It upgraded (supposedly) by itself. Now it takes two or three "touches" while you sit and wait for it to tell you to try again. Ive been messing with this app and two kinds of Harmony black box interfaces for over two years. Enough aggravation for a lifetime. Gross corporate incompetence. So many mods. So many dismal failures. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and again. Im through. Lifes too short. UPDATE 10/5/14 Latest version actually works pretty good for me but kills a freshly charged iPhone 5 battery in 2 to 3 hours and phone becomes NOTICEABLY warm. Cmon guys. Get it right! UPDATE 12/16/14 I have fought with this contraption for probably close to two years in one form or another. Currently, it seems to be working and working well for me. Battery life while running the app has improved to the point that it seems to use less than 10% per hour while streaming a movie from iTunes. All other aspects that are working fine. After all my pain and suffering, I must finally give credit to Harmony for not just lying down, but persevering until they got things working right. I cannot speak for all of the other people that are still having problems, only to say that at this time I am finally satisfied with my Hub and app on my iPhone six. UPDATE 1/18/17 Updates are always a crapshoot. Last one fixed volume control issues (I didnt have) and added a free annoying recurring pop up note that shows up EVERY time you use the app. Cmon guys, after suffering with you all these years, really? Please just fix it and leave it alone.

Dont buy this POS

This is such a poorly designed app, which is unfortunate because it renders the $200 Harmony device useless. Returning my device ASAP.

Cannot edit activities once they are set

My app insists on a firmware check when I try to edit activities and stalls at 25%. I had to restore it back to factory and start fresh to change the settings. Had to do it again when Alexa couldnt differentiate between watch tv and watch smart tv. This could be amazing if they really invested in improving the app itself along with the Alexa interface.

App keeps telling me to upgrade...

I was able to add a new component to be controlled by my hub, but every time I open the app it tells me I need to upgrade yet when I hit the upgrade button, it acts like its going to open another screen but then stops and remains on the screen telling me to upgrade and I have to answer "later" in order to use the app.

App layout terrible, app now wont see hub

Ive had the hub for about two weeks. This morning the app simply will NOT see the hub. Ive done all the resets called for several times, to no avail. App layout perplexes me EVERY time I want to make a change. Very disappointing!

So far so great!

I just purchased my first Harmony Home Hub yesterday and spent some time with this app. First, setup was fairly simple and straight forward. Yes, I needed to find model numbers for some of my devices, but that didnt take very long. I had to update the firmware on the Hub before I could edit Activities, but that only took about 5 minutes. The IR blaster works very well, but I did have to perform some trial and error with positioning the device in my media stand to get the best coverage. Im also glad the Hub supports Bluetooth and WiFi controlled devices. My biggest complaint is that after updating the firmware on the Hub, it can no longer pair with my Wii U. Before the update it only took a minute for it to pair. I hope a future update will address this. Otherwise, Im pleased. I can also understand some of the complaints from others. Each Hub has a limit of 8 media devices (why?). Switching between apps can cumbersome. The Alexa skill is limited (can only communicate with one hub) and could use some refinement. Some of these complaints arent for the iOS app specifically. For my purposes, the app is great. Hopefully they keep improving it. Thanks!

Please add Apple Watch support

Love my harmony remote. This app has always been fine. They seem to improve it every now and then. Please add Apple Watch support. Any "remote" app should support the watch.

Works well just missing Apple Watch app

Desperately need an Apple Watch app.
